Stamping Your Own Backgrounds Tutorial

Today I am the featured designer over on SpeedyTV and the Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company blog.  Sorry for the late post, my migraines kicked into high gear again.

Stamping Your Own Background

Supplies:
Stamps: Welcome Poppies, Love Script, Oh Happy Day
Card Stock: White, Black, SU Garden Green, Pumpkin Pie, Scraps
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass & Antique Linen Distress Inks, Stampin Up! Garden Green, Pumpkin Pie
Accessories: Prismacolor Markers, Stipple Brush, Brads, Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch, Ice Stickles

1) Start by folding your card, then stamping the small poppy image in garden green ink directly onto the card for a tone on tone look.
When you are finished, it should look like this.
2) Next, stamp the pumpkin pie panel in the same ink for another tone on tone layer.
3) When finished with your tone on tone stamping, trim down the pumpkin pie panel so it is just slightly smaller than your card base.
4) Adhere the two panels together.
5) Now take your main image stamp and ink it in memento tuxedo black ink, and stamp it onto white card stock.
6) Color with prismacolor markers, copics or preferred coloring medium then over stamp love script in antique linen ink before stippling tumbled glass ink around the edges.
7) Once coloring is finished, layer as desired
8) Add brads, adhere layered image to card, add saying and then finish embellishing as desired.

Making your own background is easy and really fun.  I hope you also give it a try.  Here are a few more examples of cards where I've made my own backgrounds.
